Sean Clark discusses preserving computer art across successive generations of technology, from early experiments and microcomputers to the web, and considers the conservation challenges posed by contemporary digital art and AI.

About the Event

Sean Clark examines the practical challenges of preserving computer art and the importance of collaboration with organisations such as the Computer Conservation Society.

The seminar considers early computer artworks of the 1960s, microcomputer-based art from the 1980s and web art from the 2000s. Drawing on these histories, Clark asks what needs to be preserved from today’s digital art and AI practices.
