BCS introduces the Computer Arts Society’s exhibition programme, highlighting Peter Hardie’s work at BCS Moorgate from February to September 2024.
Hardie (1945–2019) uses 3D computer animation and still images to explore the meeting point of realism and abstraction. His digital landscapes respond to light, colour and movement in the natural world, inviting viewers to reconsider familiar phenomena through carefully constructed imagery.
The article places this exhibition within a continuing programme at Moorgate, recalling Paul Brown’s retrospective, a Quantel Paintbox exhibition featuring Keith Haring and David Hockney, and the first CAS members’ exhibition. It also notes the venue’s connection with Lumen Prize events.
For audiences in Leicester, BCS highlights a retrospective of Jack Tait’s electro-mechanical drawings at the Phoenix Arts Centre café bar. Tait’s work demonstrates the creative possibilities of drawing machines developed throughout a practice beginning in 1960.
